The acronym, ACEO stands for Art Cards, Editions and Originals. There are several versions of the history of ACEO's but the common denominator is that they must be 2.5" x 3" in size. Rather than go into lengthy explanations, here are a few links:
Some people feel strongly that these miniature works of art should not be sold, only traded amongst artists. I disagree. I've bought many of these wonderful and tiny works of art (through ebay) and have created an album. I love browsing through this album - it's like having a miniature art gallery of my own, all being original works of art. Many artists sell prints of their work as ACOE's and many others sell photographs as ACEO's. I say, to each his own! My purchased additions to my collection include only original works of art and original collage work. I like it that way but that doesn't mean it's the only way. Again, to each his own.
I've also sold many ACEO's on ebay. Following, I've posted a few.
Another link I'd like to put here is for a group and new movement that I love the sounds of! Original Small Works Of Art

Minature Waves and Collage
This ACEO is watercolour and collage, on Arches 140 lb paper. Size is 2.5" x 3". First, a very tiny painting of waves was completed. (Think of something the size of a postage stamp!) Then I collaged it onto the paper with the actual tube of paint used and also a piece of the actual kleenex used to 'dab' my brush on. I had purchased a bag of goodies from someone on Ebay filled with little collage thingies. That's where the 'G' came from. After it was all coated with a coat of mat medium for protection, I mounted the entire thing on another piece of Arches 140 lb paper for some extra stability. This photo shows the ACEO and a side view showing the 3-dimensional aspects of it.
